Royston Pike Lecture- Riverfed: A Culinary Journey down the Thames by Di Murrell

Di will talk about her experiences working on barges on Britain’s inland waterways. She will tell the story of how limes became the last regular freight on the English canal system, and why Canadian wheat was made into flour in Weybridge. Learn about the Thames, the grain trade in the ‘80s, and the ‘Free Water Clause’. Di Murrell is a food writer whose books ‘Barges and Bread’ and ‘A Foodie Afloat’ reflect her interests in food history and waterways.
