LC - Erdem Misirlioglu (piano)

Erdem Misirlioglu started piano lessons when he was nine. He is currently doing his masters in performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studies with Martin Roscoe and Ronan O'Hora. He studied the piano with Mark Fielding for five years at Junior Guildhall prior to this. 
In 2006, Erdem was a prizewinner in the International Rachmaninov Competition for Young Pianists and was also awarded both the Keyboard Instrument Prize in 2006 and the Principal's prize in 2008 at GSMD. Erdem won the piano section of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2008 and subsequently performed Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales. Most recently, Erdem was awarded 1st prize in the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe's intercollegiate piano competition.
He is a keen chamber musician, the pianist in the Arnold Camerata as well as Trio Isimsiz, a piano trio formed in GSMD with Pablo Hernan and Michael Petrov. They recently performed in the Barbican Hall and are booked to play in the Royal Festival Hall later this season.
Erdem has enjoyed participating in masterclasses with distinguished pianists including Bernard Roberts, Peter Donohoe, Lang Lang, Paul Lewis and Stephen Kovacevich and has performed in venues including St Martin in the Fields, St James' Piccadilly, Snape Maltings, Cardiff Millennium Centre and Wigmore Hall, where he gave a recital of Beethoven's op 109 Sonata and Chopin's 4 Ballades that was broadcast on Radio 3.
