Ventnor Fringe 2023: Ventnor - Cradle of the Russian Revolution Walk (SOLD OUT)

A walk in the footsteps of Russia’s political radicals, writers and poets who stayed in Ventnor in the 1850’s and 1860’s.

These were the brave men and women who opposed their country’s imperialism and autocracy and struggled to create an alternative, liberal Russia. The walk was sold out at last year’s Ventnor Fringe Festival. The walk is led by Stephan Roman, the author of the best selling book Isle and Empires : Romanov Russia, Britain and the Isle of Wight which was published in 2021 by Medina Publishing. Stephan will be accompanied by Lesley Telford from the Ventnor Heritage Centre. Together they will give a fascinating insight into the key role that Ventnor played in laying the foundations for the Russian Revolution of 1917.

The walk starts at the Winter Gardens, Ventnor and finishes at the Ventnor Heritage Centre. The walk takes two hours and is mainly on the level but does include one steep road. Entry to the Ventnor Heritage Centre is include in the price of the ticket.
