Ventnor Fringe 2023: Stokey Woodall's Solar Walk

Why not let Stokey (The Star-man) take you on a stroll through the solar system. The walk is laid out based on the 1,000-yard model, where one inch represents 100,000 miles.
Meet at the Better Days Café, Ventnor,at 1300 hours daily for a little chat and a cup of tea.

The start of the walk will be from a model representing a scaled Sun outside the old clock shop just a few meters away from the café.
9 walkers will be tasked with becoming one of the 9 planets and given a model representing it. They will also be given an information sheet containing interesting facts of which they will choose just a couple to share with the rest of the group. On commencement from the Sun a volunteer rocket man will then tell us how many paces needed to be taken to get to the first planet Mars and then in turn to each individual planet.
The stroll ends at Ventnor Park where you will be able to enjoy some of the other fringe activities on offer. Once completed you will have walked a total of 1,019 paces, the equivalent to 3,666,000,000 miles! to Pluto.
A long the way Stokey will entertain you with his stella stories & fun celestial facts.

Part of the ticket fee we be donated to the Better Days Café by Stokey. The Better Days Café is a new 'inclusion hub' offering a safe, warm space with mental health support and advice for anyone who feels 'invisible' or who struggles with the challenges of everyday life. This is a self-supporting and funded charity a valuable one for our local community in these uncertain times.
