1923: The War is over. While Clarissa Dalloway prepares a party in Westminster, Septimus Smith is diagnosed with shell-shock, and their memories and dreams magically intertwine with those of 15 other disparate souls, this hot blue day in  June. Conjuring the hopes and regrets of middle- and upper-class London, this adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s celebrated map of hearts, minds and memories offers a compellingly feminine response to the aftermath of the First World War.

Dyad  Productions creates, produces and tours classic theatre with an innovative and contemporary emphasis. This stage adaptation of Virginia Woolf’s classic novel ‘Mrs Dalloway’ is Dyad’s sixth original production in as many years, and garnered five-star reviews at Edinburgh 2014, enjoying critical and commercial success. Previous works, Austen’s Women and I, Elizabeth were five-star successes at Edinburgh and Adelaide in 2009/2010 and 2010/2011, with The Diaries of  Adam and Eve, Female Gothic, and The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe garnering five-star reviews at Edinburgh 2011, 2012, and 2013 respectively. All six plays continue to tour across the UK and internationally, while Austen’s Women  returned to Edinburgh in 2013 for another highly acclaimed five-star run.

Dalloway is adapted and directed by Elton Townend Jones (writer/director: The Unremarkable Death of Marilyn Monroe, writer/performer: The Diaries of Adam and Eve, script editor: Female Gothic, writer: Cutting the Cord for Flying Eye). It is  performed by Rebecca Vaughan (writer/performer: Austen’s Women, Female Gothic, I, Elizabeth, performer: The Diaries of Adam and Eve).
