The Frazer Theatre Comedy Club - October 2022

The Frazer Theatre Comedy Club made a storming comeback with our September show and we're going to keep that ball rolling with another world-beating selection of the finest comedy talent around on Friday 7th October. As the host of our September show put it "You've got an Edinburgh award winner and one of the guys who created Viz, and they're just the support acts!". 

Appearing at the club this month are Ed Aczel, Simon Donald, Kate Martin and MC James Meehan.

Tickets are still just £10 in advance, £12 on the door. Doors open at 7.30 pm and the show starts at 8pm.

 

Martin Turner – Vintage Albums: Back to Back

On Friday 14th October 2022, Martin Turner and his band return to the concert stages in 2022 to perform two vintage Wishbone Ash album in their entirety – 1972’s Argus (celebrating the album’s 50th anniversary) and 1973’s Wishbone Four. 

Featuring epic tracks such as “The King Will Come”, “Warrior” and “Throw Down the Sword”, Wishbone Ash’s seminal 1972 Argus album achieved a #2 UK album chart position and won UK music press “Album of The Year” awards. On its 50th anniversary, Argus remains one of the most enduring works of the classic rock era.

I'll Be Back Before Midnight

From Wednesday 19th to Saturday 22nd October, the Knaresborough Players presents Peter Colley’s thrilling play I’ll Be Back Before Midnight.

Jan (Jemma Bunting) has recently had a nervous breakdown, and her husband Greg (Jocelyn Cook), an geologist, has rented an old farmhouse in the country where she can recover. When George (Colin Beveridge), the hilarious farmer they rent the house from, tells stories about a terrible murder that once took place in the farmhouse and the ghost that reputedly stalks the night, Jan’s imagination gets fired up.  The situation gets even worse when Laura (Sian Pearce), Greg’s beautiful but manipulative sister arrives.  Soon Jan finds herself tormented by strange sounds in the night, and visions of the vengeful ghost.  Is she having another breakdown?  Is someone trying to drive her mad?  When she tries to defend herself from this apparition, events take an unexpected turn in a night of unimaginable suspense.

Spirit of Smokie

On Friday 28th October 2022, Frazer Theatre Music welcomes back Spirit of Smokie.

Originating from Bradford, England the first line up was formed by school friends Chris Norman, Ron Kelly and Alan Silson. In July 1975, after several name changes and recording contracts Smokie had a top-five UK hit with “If you think you know how to love me”. Further success followed with a total of 15 top 20 hits including “Living Next door to Alice” which was No. 1 in Germany for nine weeks. Sean McLoughlin: So Be It

On Saturday 29th October 2022, the Frazer Theatre Comedy Club presents Sean McLoughlin. 

International microstar Sean McLoughlin is back on the road with a scintillating new stand-up show.  The world may be a strange and scary place but there’s no need for the bastards to get you down. Come sit in a dark room and listen to some jokes told by “an impassioned and uniquely brilliant talent” (The List).

Blind Jack of Knaresborough - The Spa Players

On Wednesday 9th November, The Spa Players present the amazing story of Blind Jack of Knaresborough in music and words.

After losing his sight from small pox at age 6, Jack learned to play violin and oboe and went on to earn his living as a musician before becoming famous as a road builder. In 1732 at the age of 15 he was the official Spa Musician in Harrogate’s hotels and ballrooms and was also invited to play in the homes of the gentry and in York Assembly Rooms. At the time of the Jacobite rebellion he marched to Culloden as a musician with the Yorkshire Blues.

Limehouse Lizzy

On Friday 11th November, Frazer Theatre Music welcomes back Limehouse Lizzy.

Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide. The band have also added a tribute into their show to ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist (and world renowned solo artist) Gary Moore.

Tickets are £20.00 + £2.00 booking fee. Doors open at 7pm an show starts at 8pm.

Mimesis presents AbidA - A Feast for the Senses

On 30th November, Mimesis presents AbidA - A Feast for the Senses.

Art forms and genres coalesce in a performance that demonstrates how difference can at once be celebrated, reconciled and transcended. Based on a traditional north African ritual, the show consists of seven scenes which present evocations of each of seven thematic colours through dance, sound, poetry, imagery and fragrance. 

Tickets are £8 (£6 concessions - Pensioners/Students/Unwaged). Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm. 
 

GM Live - The Ultimate Tribute to George Michael

On Friday 10th February, Frazer Theatre Music and Carlton Entertainments present GM Live- The Ultimate tribute to George Michael.

This joyous new show celebrates the music of one of the most iconic and best singer songwriters of all time, the incredible George Michael.

Tickets are £22 plus £2 booking fee.  
Doors open at 7pm and the show starts at 7.30pm.

Scott Bennett: Great Scott

On Friday 24th February 2023, Frazer Theatre Comedy and Live Nation present comedian Scott Bennett with his brand new tour show "Great Scott".

In massive demand as a comedy writer and with regular appearances on BBC Radio 4’s The News Quiz and The Now Show, Scott is an act on the verge of breaking through into the big time. 

Tickets are £15 plus £1.50 booking fee. Doors open at 7.30pm and the show starts at 8pm.

This show has been rearranged from 28th May 2022. All tickets have been transferred to the new date.

Alchemy Live - Dire Straits Tribute

On Friday 31st March, Frazer Theatre Music presents Alchemy Live, the new tribute to Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler. 

Formed in 2022 by frontman Martin Ledger, Alchemy Live hail from Yorkshire and bring together a group of professional players and friends who share a common love of the music of Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits. Collectively the band have toured worldwide and have shared the stage with rock legends such as Mike Rutherford, Mick Hucknell, Roger Taylor and many more.
