Walton Folk Festival 2021

WALTON FOLK FESTIVAL returns for a third year with another  astonishing lineup showcasing the very best of folk, roots and acoustic music.
Joining  this amazing list of acts, we are thrilled to announce that BBC2 Radio2 Folk Award winners THE TRIALS OF CATO will be headlining the festival in the evening.

The remarkable rise of award winning trio The Trials of Cato on the UK folk-scene has been the subject of massive critical attention. Dubbed "The Sex Pistols of folk,” (J Davis) they pay clear homage to the tradition whilst twisting old bones into something febrile and modern, with stomping tunes and captivating stories.
Following a year of wall-to-wall touring across the UK, Europe, and North America in 2019, the band’s march was halted by the live silence of the global pandemic. Now, they emerge from their chrysalis transformed. As ever, ‘The Trials Continue’ - but this time the multi-talented instrumentalist and singer Polly Bolton joins their ranks.
The Trials of Cato’s hotly anticipated second album is scheduled for release later this year. Entitled Gog Magog, the album is named both after the mythical giant of Arthurian legend and the Cambridgeshire hilltop, where the new album was birthed over lockdown.

Riverhouse favourites Jacob and Drinkwater. The duo are singer-songwriter Tobias Ben Jacob and Lukas Drinkwater. They performed a stunning sold-out show in 2019 and we just had to have them back for the festival.

Kim Lowings and the Greenwood continue to delight audiences at folk clubs, festivals and events nationally with their lively and engaging stage presence. Their most recent album Wild & Wicked Youth was incredibly well received with both national and international airplay including BBC Radio 2.

Also featuring are 3-time BBC2 Folk Award nominees contemporary folk/acoustic duo Gilmore & Roberts.

Brought together by the progressive Glasgow folk music community, Jenn & Laura-Beth are two voices, mandolin and guitar that all blend together magnificently.

Continuing the commitment to showcase exciting young talent, the lineup is completed by Odette Michell, a British folk singer-songwriter, guitarist and bouzouki player with a bold new take on the acoustic tradition.

Other amazing acts to be confirmed nearer the date. Keep up to date on Facebook – Walton Folk - for news of a very special concert!
