Tonight the Way Out West collective (WOW) pays tribute to Mick Sexton, a stalwart of the British jazz scene. He was a passionate supporter of jazz, a bass player and band leader of his own group Torus. He helped to establish the paper magazine Jazz in London as well as its online replacement, Jazz London Live. He was a great supporter of WOW, and after a few years was invited to become a full member of the collective.
Mick loved melodic, contemporary music from Steps Ahead, Keith Jarrett’s Belonging Band, Jaco Pastorius, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock. WOW will be performing a programme which draws on both instrumental pieces and songs from this repertoire in tribute to a much-loved jazz enthusiast and friend.
Tickets: £17Friday 29 September 2023 - 7.30pm
